A somewhat unjustly overlooked tourist area near Klatovy offers a wide range of natural and historical attractions. Here, you can find the museum of the "Czech Edison" František Křižík, a tribute to the last days of Josef Kajetán Tyl, a nature park, sports activities in newly built facilities and natural swimming pools, and the monumental church by K.I. Dienzenhofer. Come and relax in Plánicko, where you'll find hotels, guesthouses, and campsites.
Mount Prácheň and Prácheň Castle gave their name to the historical region, and today the name Prácheňsko is also borne by an association of 35 municipalities based in Horažďovice, founded in 2001. The residents of the ARBERLAND - BAVARIAN FOREST region have been closely connected to their homeland since ancient times. You could say they live by the forest, which they call "Woid" (from the German word "der Wald" meaning "forest"), and they have a special emotional bond with it. They refer to themselves as "Waidler" (meaning "forest dwellers").
